No certificate, no site access
The Construction Regulations, 2014 require every employee on a construction site to hold a valid medical certificate of fitness, specific to the construction work they do, issued by an occupational health practitioner on the Annexure 3 form. Principal contractors check for it before a sub-contractor starts, and safety officers check it on every file audit. An expired or generic certificate is treated the same as none.

Is a medical certificate of fitness required on a construction site?
Yes. The Construction Regulations, 2014 require every employee on site to hold a valid medical certificate of fitness specific to the construction work they perform, issued by an occupational health practitioner in the form of Annexure 3.
How long is an Annexure 3 certificate valid?
Twelve months from the date of issue. We give you a register of expiry dates so renewals can be booked before anyone lapses.
Can you come to our site?
Yes. On-site medical days are run on construction sites across Somerset West, Strand, Stellenbosch and greater Cape Town. A private room or site office with a power point is all that is needed.
Does the certificate cover working at height?
The certificate states fitness for the specific work the employee does. Where that includes working at height or operating construction vehicles and mobile plant, the assessment covers it and the certificate says so.
How fast can a new worker be certified?
Individual workers can usually be seen within days, and a full crew is scheduled as a block. Send your start date with the enquiry.
